It Is That Time of Year Again—-Holiday Cheer for Seniors!
For many years, Unity of Washington, DC congregants have come together on Christmas Eve to deliver meals, holiday cards, and supermarket gift cards to low-income seniors who may not have friends or family around with whom to celebrate the holiday.
Over the past few years, to minimize the spread of COVID-19, we have not prepared and delivered meals, but have continued to provide seniors with supermarket gift cards. Unity mails holiday cards with the gift cards so seniors receive the cards a few days prior to Christmas.
The seniors come to us through AARP’s Legal Consul for the Elderly and Everybody Home DC (formerly—Capitol Hill Group Ministries). This year we will provide gift cards to 250 seniors.
