The Peace Game

Peace by 2030? What if enough people playing a game could heal that which divides us in our communities and create peace on earth by the end of the decade? Who’s in? We are – right here at Unity of Washington, DC we will be hosting the Peace Game!

This program was envisioned by David Gershon, who with his wife Gail, in 1986, at the height of the cold war, organized the passing of a torch of peace around the world. The First Earth Run, in partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund directly engaged twenty-five million people and 45 heads-of-state in 62 countries. Over a billion people watched the torch via the media circumnavigate the globe. For 86 days wherever the torch of peace went all wars stopped and the world was united as one.

At its essence, the Peace Game is an empowerment platform enabling people to envision and create a life of peace for themselves and influence those in their world to do the same. At scale, it can reweave the social fabric of a community.

Players meet for 9 weeks to engage in seven Peace actions— empowerment, oneness, unity, cooperation, abundance, love and faith — which are transformational practices that when collectively applied evolve a person into an emanation of peace and everything around them into manifestations of peace. They are practices which mean their impact deepens as one invests in them over time. There is also a meditation associated with each action to help internalize it.

This transformative journey begins Wednesday, September 25th and runs each Wednesday thereafter through November 20th from Noon to 2pm in Fellowship Hall. We look forward to seeing you!
