A Need for Every Gift
Audio-Video Team
Is a technical ministry responsible for operating the audio and video systems for the recording of services, workshops, special events and concerts. Provide other multimedia support as needed. It is helpful, but not a requirement, if potential members have some technical experience in the areas of audio reinforcement and video production.
Bookstore Assistant Team
Provides access to Unity materials and other spiritual resources to bless and enhance the spiritual journey of all who enter. Lovingly cares for the Unity bookstore and our customers. Operates the bookstore register after Sunday Services and during other special services as needed.
Event Support Team
Provides logistical support for classes, workshops, concerts, special events, etc. Assists the workshop/class leaders, collects and counts the offering for events, and sells books and materials.
Garden Transformation Team
Maintains the gardens and grounds around the church with vibrant flowers and plants, to provide a welcome greeting to all who enter our space. Throughout the year volunteers will keep the gardens clean and filled with fresh seasonal plants.
Hospitality Team
Ministers to all who attend by lovingly preparing and serving refreshments after each Sunday service. Commitment is for only one (1) Sunday per month. Also an opportunity to greet fellow congregants and help bring the Unity welcome.
Ministerial Support Team
Assist the Senior Minister and guest speakers before, during and after Sunday worship service. This includes, but is not limited to preparing the sanctuary for service, ensuring that bulletins are in the sanctuary and on the platform, and assisting guest speakers (i.e., transportation, light meal, etc.).
Office Assistant Team
Provides limited administrative assistance and overall office coverage on Sundays.
Online Greeters Team
Holds the online vision for a warm, welcoming, and inviting spiritual experience. Cheerfully greet congregants, friends and visitors to our online live streamed services using YouTube’s Live Chat features. Monitor and respond to questions about the service and provide online links to UWDC’s website for additional information. It is helpful, but not a requirement, if potential members are familiar with YouTube Live Chat and Unity of Washington, DC’s website. Volunteers must complete the Online Greeters Team training prior to joining this team.
Special Strategic Events Team
Assist the Senior Minister in the design, planning, and execution of events and programs that will spread love, light, awareness, higher consciousness and the Unity message.
Usher & Greeter Team
Holds the vision for the warm, welcoming, and inviting atmosphere that is felt in the sanctuary and reflected in the service they provide. Cheerfully greets congregants, handing them a bulletin and assisting or directing them to a seat. Prepares the sanctuary for regular Sunday services. Takes and records the service attendance at each service.
Youth Education Team
Facilitates once a month in a Sunday classroom setting, assisting the Youth Education staff and Unity’s young people in their spiritual unfoldment.

Volunteers must be willing to undergo a Background check.
Youth of Unity Sponsor (Y.O.U.)
Facilitates in a Sunday classroom setting, leading and guiding Unity’s teenagers (Grades 9-12) in their spiritual unfoldment through discussion, activities and spiritual lessons that gives them an understanding of Spiritual Truths.
Volunteers must be willing to undergo a Background check.
Other General Support Services
Daily Word Reader
Serves the congregation by setting the atmosphere for worship through a loving and reverent reading of the Daily Word reading and scriptures – The Daily Word is read in English and Spanish.
Worship Leader
Serves on Sunday morning and other special services. Duties include: Leading the congregational prayers; sharing information about church events; introducing Sunday service activity; introducing guest speakers; welcoming visitors; and raising the energy level of the congregation in preparation for receiving the message.
Platform Assistant
Serves on the 1st Wednesday of each month to support the Senior Minister / Meditation Leader as needed with the service (i.e, providing fresh water; Christ candle; collection and counting of love offering).
General Volunteer (Weekdays)
Assist church staff with assembling guest packets for visitors, Sunday bulletins and other duties as needed. Stuffs and sort envelopes for special mailings.
